The associations listed above are all based upon studies of real "SAVING" dreams. They are based upon the example dreams listed at the bottom of this page.

'Saving' someone in a dream may suggest that you have some immediate crisis that has been on your mind. You may be thinking of ways in which you can resolve a dispute.

EXAMPLE DREAMS

Example dream : A dream about being saved took place as the dreamer was very stressed out because her boyfriend had just broken up with her and she was facing exams. Being saved was symbolic of her thinking about who she could look to for help and support. The dreams meaning involved this theme of "looking for help and support" in the following way "I am really stressed out by the break up and my exams. I am looking for help and support." So the dream was linked to her assessing her own emotional state and wondering who she could look to for help.
Example dream : Trying to save linked to the dreamer talking to that very same friend the day before. She had been feeling very down and saving her symbolised the dreamers wish to cheer her up. Saving is a word which is highly associated with helping, saving is just a higher level of helping. Saving is just another word for rescue and the dreamer was "coming to her friends rescue". The dream pinpoints the level of urgency here, showing how much her friend needs help. The dream suggests a feeling like "I was shocked at how upset my friend was. She really need a lot of help and support. I tried to do as much as possible." Saving is often linked to feelings like "I did as much as I could" or "I did everything possible."
Example dream : Wanting to save his ex symbolised the dreamers wish to stay on good terms with her after the break up . (symbolism - he wanted to save his relationship with his ex even if it meant they were just friends)
Example dream : A dream about people being saved from a sinking ship symbolised the dreamers upset feelings following a phone call from a frantic sounding friend. She did not know if things were OK. One minute she felt things would be OK(she would be 'safe') and the next she felt worried. The dreams meaning linked to this exact feeling "I had a phone from my friend who was frantic. I do not know if she is ok as she has not rung back. One minute I feel she is probably O.k. Then I start worrying." The dream revolved around the lack of information, was her friend safe or was she still in need of help.
Example dream : One night the dreamer could not get to sleep for several hours but eventually got to sleep and had a dream which seemed to feature every symbol such as police, rescues, torture and killing. If dreams do link to important feelings then surely this dream in some way links to the dreamers inability to get to sleep. The dreamer did not mention what was causing her stress so we may guess that there was not any major issues. Having read the dream I made the simple association "this dream seems to have everything going on". Actually that association does seem to have relevance to the dreamers inability to sleep. If someone cannot get to sleep then thoughts are racing through their heads and they are unable to relax enough to sleep. So the saving and rescues was linked to high levels of adrenalin and excitement which was making it difficult for the dreamer to get to sleep.
Example dream : Saving your own life from an alligator linked to the dreamers realisation that he should not say anything to a woman he was attracted to. He realised that opening his heart might completely mess up the friendship they had. He realised that he had to shut his mouth - talking openly would really cause problems. "Saving" is a word which has obvious associations with the word "safe". The dreamer realised that "in order to stay safe he needed to avoid opening his mouth and saying too much".
Example dream : A dream where the dreamer rescues her best friend linked to her thinking about him getting a new girlfriend. The dream linked to her worries that he would get his heart broken again and would need to be rescued again.
Example dream : Trying to save her niece in a dream linked to the dreamers arguments with her boyfriend. Saving her niece was really a symbol for her deciding to sort out her problems by ending her relationship with her boyfriend. So this dreams taps into feelings like "I must save myself and get out of this relationship." So "saving" links to a wider usage and meaning of the word "save" which applies more to emotions than some event.
Example dream : A dream in which the dreamer saves his ex was linked to his belief that they had a good relationship and should get back together.
Example dream : Saving in one dream represented the dreamers feelings towards her son. She was thinking how good a father her husband was and about his ability to protect her son (could he 'save' his son if he got into a real crisis?)
Example dream : Saving her parents in a dream was linked to their tendency to get themselves into trouble and need of help (they needed 'saving'). The dream linked to this exact thought process "I have been spending a lot of time trying to make my parents happy and trying to make sure that they don't do anything dumb."
Example dream : Being saved from a tornado symbolised the dreamers fiancé who managed to resolve a disagreement. So the symbolism is quite obvious as he "saved" the day.
Example dream : A dream in which her husband saved the dreamer symbolised the dreamers problems with her stepdaughter. They had had a huge argument the previous day and had agreed that they could not live under the same roof. In the dream her husband saves her from this tornado. What is the symbolic meaning of this? The dreamers husband had perhaps "saved" the situation by supporting her. It may also hint that he took his wifes side over his daughters. The dream could roughly translate into the following emotion "I could not have got through this without my husband" or "My husband was a great help". Either of these are worthy of the rather extreme symbol "save".
Example dream : Saving herself and her boyfriend linked to her decision to put the relationship on hold. He wanted him to sort things out with his ex before moving onto a new relationship. The problems had been intolerable .
Example dream : Trying to save a bird which is being attacked by cats symbolised the dreamers brother who was suffering from cancer. Saving represented the wish to fight the cancer.
Example dream : Trying to save someone from drowning linked to the dreamer being unemployed and this threatening his marriage. Trying to save someone symbolised his wish to do as much as possible to save his marriage and get a job.
Example dream : A dream in which the the dreamer is helped and saved from fast moving water took place the day before the dreamer was due to see her doctor about her terrible health (she was obviously hoping he would save her).
Example dream : In one dream the dreamer saves the girl he is becoming increasingly attracted to in real life. In saving her he is showing that he wants to protect her and cares for her. The dream therefore reveals these feelings "she is important to me" and "I care for her" (enough to save her)
Example dream : A dream where someone was talking about the dreamer saying he had "saved the place" was linked to the dreamer going to a club the next day. He had stopped going there after falling out with someone. Saving the place was symbolic of how much this club had meant to the dreamer in real life. If you save something then its clearly important to you.
Example dream : In one dream people are chasing one girl rather than the dreamer. In real life the dreamer was going to have to report a missing identity card the next day. He hated dealing with the authorities and decided he would go to a none local office which he felt would be easier for him to cope. This he felt would "save him some stress."
Example dream : Being saved from a poison bomb in a dream was linked to the dreamers positivity and determination not to allow negative comments to get to her. With a new positive outlook she was 'saving' herself from feeling negative.
Example dream : A friend saving the dreamer from a castle linked to her recognition that her friend had been a good influence on her (she had 'saved her')- bringing her out of her shell
Example dream : A dream in which the dreamer attempts to save himself was triggered by tension at work. This tension was getting too much for him and he had to think of himself. He just took evasive action cutting himself off from others.
Example dream : Saving his granddad represented the dreamers poor health (he was getting old and tired) and wish to get better. Saving then symbolised his need to act to stop his health declining (eg save himself).
Example dream : A dream of trying to save yourself represented the dreamers belief that if they made a complaint against someone then it could cause him real trouble. This woman would react badly and so he would probably need to be protected if he did complain (eg he would need 'saving').
Example dream : A dream where the dreamer tries to save her family during an earthquake tookthe place whilst she was homeless. Trying to save her mom was symbolic of her wish to play the mother figure and make sure everyone is ok whilst she was homeless.
Example dream : Trying to save a dog and a baby from drowning linked to the dreamer setting up a new business in a very difficult economic climate. The need to save the baby and dog symbolised the dreamers wish to keep her business going in a desperate economic climate.
Example dream : In one dream the dreamer becomes the hero and saves a girl he is attracted to. The dream reveals these thoughts "she is important to me" and "I would protect her."
