DREAM DICTIONARY - Picture :

A picture is a symbol of the imagination. Were you trying to imagine just how someone felt yesterday? Were you trying to recreate a scene in your mind? Have you been picturing how you would like things to turn out?

EXAMPLE DREAMS

Example dream : A dream with pictures and paintings of castles was linked to the dreamers fears about bird flu which had just been in the news. The pictures were symbols of his imagination about how bad this deadly new flu might be. Pictures were symbols of his mind picturing how bad things could be and of his mind painting a picture of what might happen (imaginging the worst). This theme of "imagining the worst" was central to the dreamers thoughts at the time as he thought - "I am terrified of this bird flu - if it does become an epidemic then it will be like 1918 where everyone locked themselves in their homes and millions died."
Example dream : Being shown a picture represented the dreamers imagination - he was trying to imagine what had happened. He assumed the worst and so felt am friendship with someone was now beyond repair. The dreamer had just behaved in a very cold and callous way and was wishing he could go back in time and change what he did. So "picture" in the dream could be translated symbolically into words like "imagining" and the dream taps into thoughts like "I am imagining the worst. If I could go back in time I would change things."
Example dream : Sending a picture of her blood in a dream was linked to the dreamers feelings of upset. It represented her need to describe in detail how deeply hurt she was. (she was trying to show exactly how things were)
Example dream : A picture in a dream linked to the dreamer imagining the worst about her husbands medical tests (she was painting a very bleak picture in her own mind).
Example dream : A picture being shown to the dreamer symbolised some deep thinking about the Second World War. The day before had been the 60th anniversary of V-Day. The dreamer had made a flippant remark about the war and regretted it afterwards. The TV coverage caused the dreamer to think deeply about the war and the picture in the dream was symbolic of the picture he recreated in his mind of the war.
Example dream : The dreamer thinking to himself that he should not picture something was linked to some very fearful thoughts about a law he was breaking. Picturing it was symbolic of him thinking what would happen if he did get 'found out'.
Example dream : A picture of a sinking ship in a dream linked to the dreamer thinking about his own health. He was thinking how he could help himself and how he had to be more positive. The picture of the sinking ship links by association with thoughts like "looking on the dark side" or "imagining the worst" or "we are doomed!" Pictures tend to link by association with the imagination as we use our imagination to interpret a picture. We can even translate the "picture" in the dream into the word "imagination" or "picturing" or "visualising". We see the dreams meaning in this obvious way in which the dreamer was using that word to describe his feelings "I have been imagining the worst. I have got to think positively. I need to take more responbsibility for my own health."
