DREAM DICTIONARY - Need :

Quite often if you need something in a dream then it may mean that you have been thinking about how you need something in real life. Are you really very lucky? What do you really lack in your life? What do you really need? A relationship? More meaning to your life? More time to do something?

Read through the keywords below and try to see how they link to feelings in your mind right now. Think especially of your moods, feelings about relationships and also thoughts about specific issues from yesterday.

KEY WORDS AND PHRASES:
- In need? eg "this desperately needs doing" or "yes he is right - it needs redecorating"
- Really necessary? eg "do I really enjoy these art lessons?"
- making life better
- more meaning to your life eg "I need to relax more and engage my emotions"
- making time eg "I really need to make time for my son. I never seem to see him"

Try to think how these keywords and phrases might have relevance in describing your current feelings eg "I do need the extra money. It will help"

Dreams make associations which can connect in any way with your thoughts. They may portray any scenario or emotion that you might connect with a symbol. For instance if you "win" at something then you feel good about yourself. So a dream about winning may be a symbol for you "feeling good".

EXAMPLE DREAMS

Example dream : A dream where the dreamer needs someones help linked to him making a complaint the day before. He realised that this was a mistake as he needed the support of the people who he was trying to avoid and actively disliked.
Example dream : Being told that she needed to listen in a dream linked to the dreamer hearing her child cry during her dream. She was being woken by the child who was obviously very upset. The dream mind will often try to ignore many sounds but if the sound suggest that there is a crisis taking place (like a baby crying) then the dreamer recognises that they need to take immediate action.
Example dream : A dream where her son is too excited and 'needs' to calm down linked to his real life need to calm down. Needing to calm down symbolised his real life need to change his behaviour (in this case settle down).
Example dream : A dream where the dreamer seems to need healing was linked to recent feelings in the dreamer. She was blessed with a good family and career but lacked a real sense of fulfilment. This is what she needed - this is what would heal her.
Example dream : Being asked if she needed shelter in a dream was linked to the dreamers present situation. She had just had a baby and obviously every moment of the day revolved around the new born child. Shelter represented her need to have a few minutes to herself.
Example dream : Needing to go to church linked to the dreamers need to be more open with others and have more faith in the world
