DREAM DICTIONARY - Hostage :

Dreams can help you describe a particular trait in someone. So a hostage dream maybe a way of saying "I realise that he is cruel" or "I am ashamed of how I behaved. I was very cruel".

Dreams are metaphors often for less extreme situations which deal with the same theme. If you are a hostage then you are being pressured against your will. This maybe your minds way of saying something like "I was really pressured into helping out at the school fate." We all use phrases like "I was kidnapped into it" to describe extreme pressure.

If you are held hostage it may also portray situations of chaos. Dreams use situations which are different but which feature similarities in some way. A hostage situation is very sressful and so could portray any situation involving chaos or extreme stress.

Example dream : Being held hostage in a dream linked to the dreamer feeling jealous because her best friend was getting married. Being held hostage symbolised her feeling that everything was going wrong - she was losing her friend and could do nothing to stop it. (she had a similar sense of powerlessness as she would if she was kidnapped)
